Noise Mapping and Action Plans
In accordance with the EU directive 2002/49/EC relating to environmental noise, highway and railway authorities and cities with over 250,000 inhabitants are obliged to produce noise maps and action plans. The noise maps should have been completed by 30 June 2007 and the action plans must be completed by 18 July 2008 at the latest.
During a seminar in Rotterdam in October 2007, which Oranjewoud Consultancy organised in collaboration with the Government Road Transport Agency, we were told that many authorities and cities are still in the process of developing noise maps and action plans.
